| The Organized Times
|
We're having a beautiful fall here in South Dakota. The weather has been great and the leaves are starting to turn. I am looking forward to feeling some hot sun again, though, when I'm in Raleigh, NC, next week for extended Paper Tiger software training and conference. If you want to find anything you file or store in 5 seconds or less using the Paper Tiger System read the final article in this newsletter.
October is a good month to:
| • |
Clean and store summer clothes. |
| • |
Schedule any necessary doctor appointments for the rest of the year. |
| • |
Be ready for a power-outage. Stock up on flashlights, batteries, candles, etc. |
| • |
Get your car ready for winter and check emergency kit for flares, jumper cables, etc. |
| • |
Stock the trunk with gloves, ice scrapers, blanket, shovel, and sand. |
| • |
Replace heating-system filters. |
| • |
Test smoke detectors, carbon-monoxide alarms, fire extinguishers;make sure they're properly placed. |
| • |
Conduct a home fire drill. |
If you have a friend who would like getting monthly tips, please forward this newsletter. If you'd like to unsubscribe, follow the instructions at the end of the newsletter.
Have a great fall!
It's great to be organized! |

| Just a few small organizing tips--a few little, teeny-tiny tips, applied with a positive attitude, can help you be more organized today, than you were yesterday.
As you are able to apply tiny organizing tips to your life, and those teeny tips becomes habits that you do each day, you will be more and more organized.
Your goal should never be to get totally organized--that's an overwhelming, difficult, frightening, major, impossible goal--and something I would never recommend you try to take on. There is nobody that's always totally organized. Even professional organizers are occasionally late for appointments, or sometimes even have a messy desk.
Your goal should be to apply small organizing tips today that will make your life just a little more organized tomorrow. Small, teeny-tiny tips can help make big changes in your life.
And you'll get all the teeny-tiny tips you need, and more, when you read Finally Organized, Finally Free.

| Spend Less Time in the Kitchen! |
|
Ever feel like you go round and round in your kitchen and not get much done? It may be time to change the way you have your kitchen organized.
A kitchen should have 5 zones:
| ~ |
Cleaning Zone- sink, dishwasher, trash, sponges, soaps, etc. |
| ~ |
Food Preparation Zone - located near a large workspace. Here is where you would store the cutting board, knives, mixing bowls, blender, measuring cups, etc. |
| ~ |
Food Storage Zone - Ideally this would be near the refrigerator and should include food storage items (Tupperware), canned foods, dry goods, and fresh fruits and vegetables. |
| ~ |
Food Serving Zone - items may be in the kitchen and in eating area. Here would be dishes, linens, glassware, utensils, etc. |
As you're organizing your kitchen don't forget to clean out the refrigerator. Who knows what's lurking in there!
As you go through your drawers and cabinets think of the A,B, C rule. A's are items that you use daily, B's are items used weekly, and C's are items used monthly or seasonally. If you don't have a lot of room in your kitchen keep the C's in another part of the house. Have your A's in lower cupboards and near the front, and the B's can be higher up and further back.
While organizing your kitchen can be a huge undertaking, don't let that stop you. Just think of the time you'll save later!
