I just returned from the NSA (National Speakers Association) national convention in Orlando, FL. The conference was held at the
Orlando World Center Marriott which is a beautiful facility. I'd like to go back sometime when I'm not in meetings all day and can enjoy all the hotel had to offer!
The conference was awesome! I met so many positive, encouraging speakers who love what they do and are very good at it.

An organized office is a sign of a creative mind! |
I was honored to be a presenter at the conference which was a lot of fun. It's an interesting experience speaking to a room full of speakers!
During the presentation I showed a picture of my office to demonstrate how an organized office is set up. One audience member exclaimed "An empty desk is a sign of an empty mind!" After the laughter stopped I had to say that I respectfully disagree! I've found that I am most creative when I have just one item to work at on my desk and my mind is not distracted by clutter. And, I can be most productive when I am focused on one thing.
Would you like to spend a fun weekend learning all that I have discovered the past 25 years so you, too, can be more focused, have more confidence, be more balanced, and have more time?

Time-Saving Tips:
- Time yourself when you make a phone call - after 5 minutes wrap it up.
- Set up a filing system that works and enables you to file quickly (
www.SaveAnHouraDay.com).
- Brown 4 pounds of beef at one time instead of one pound. Freeze what you don't use.
- Keep a small notebook handy at times and jot down in it things you need to do and buy.
- Plan for your day the night before.
- Pick a day each week that you plan your menu and grocery list for the entire week. Use the free grocery list/menu planner at www.elizabethhagen.com/free_resources.html.
- Decide on certain times each day to check your e-mail instead of checking it every 5 minutes.
- Open your mail over the wastebasket or shredder.
- Have an agenda for meetings and stick to it.
- Pay bills once a week and have all your supplies in one place – stamps, envelopes, check register, etc. Or better yet – pay online.
- If you travel a lot keep a makeup bag ready to go with extras of everything that you use.
- Utilize time spent in an airport. Have a mobile office with all your supplies in your computer bag. I couldn't resist taking this picture of my friend, Dan, as we were waiting to leave Orlando!
- Purchase a month's worth of birthday cards at one time and use the Tickler File system to make sure you mail them in time.
- Get a cute basket for the remote and train the family to always put it in the basket.
- Keep a notebook and pen by each phone for messages.
Would you like more encouragement to have a great life? I have all the tools and strategies for you. You can read past issues of my newsletters and free articles at www.elizabethhagen.com/free_resources.html.
Or treat yourself to my brand new book and manual "Organize with Confidence" at www.OrganizewithConfidence.com and find out how to get the book for free!
Next time that you are on hold on the phone grab a wastebasket and open whatever drawer is closest to you. Start going through the items in the drawer and throw out what you don't need, don't know what it is, and can't use anymore.
I was getting prepared to present at the NSA convention and getting my laptop and supplies ready. I have to admit – I was a bit nervous about presenting to professional speakers. I opened my laptop and realized I had NO idea what my password was for my laptop. I've had this laptop for 2 years, use it constantly for speaking and am always typing in the password – but my brain went dead! I started to panic – realized I was in serious trouble if I couldn't even turn on my laptop – started to really get nervous - prayed – and the password came to me!
Lesson #1: Realize that brain cells disintegrate under pressure and have my laptop password handy for just this situation.
Lesson #2: Pray first!
