Booth At Women In Business

This is an exciting month for us as our daughter, Abby, is graduating from Baylor University in Texas. We are so proud! Our entire family will be there to celebrate and we can't wait!

Isn't May a great month! Finally, some great weather, everything is starting to bloom, and you can just see people having a more positive attitude!

Welcome to all my new newsletter subscribers from the Sales & Marketing Executive's Women in Business event! I had a great day meeting many wonderful women from the area and seeing other women-owned businesses.

I am having a Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting to announce the arrival of my new book and manual "Organize with Confidence." If you live near the Sioux Falls, SD area I would LOVE to have you join me. The ribbon cutting is on May 23, 2006 at 11:30 am at the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce office at 200 N. Phillips. You will have a chance to win the book, manual, and my 3-CD audio set. Please join me!

Who Do You Need To Fire?

     (Excerpted from Organize with Confidence)

I have a wonderful client that I really enjoy working with at his company. And one of the reasons I enjoy working with him is that not only is he very nice but everyone in his company is nice, also.

I commented to him once that I found every employee to be pleasant and easy to work with. He said "I only hire nice people." I then asked him what he does if someone is mean. His reply (with an absolutely straight face) "I fire them!"

I really started thinking about that. Why couldn't I apply his principle to my life? I've realized that it is very important for me to surround myself with extremely supportive, encouraging people. I don't have time or energy for anything less. I decided to start 'firing' people in my life. I've fired dry cleaners, grocery stores, clients, friends, and even extended family.

You may think this sounds a bit brutal. I assure you it is not. It's essential if you consider yourself to be a person of great value and worth. It has taken me nearly a lifetime but I have finally realized that I am extremely valuable! I want you to realize this, too. Don't ever settle for less or for being treated poorly.

Start taking note of the people in your life and 'fire' if necessary. I'm not saying you go and do a 'Donald Trump'! Just start replacing them with people who only lift you up.

Need further encouragement to take this bold step? Please read slowly and take in this wonderful quote from Marianne Williamson in "A Return to Love".
(Quoted by Nelson Mandela in his 1994 inaugural speech)

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?" Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.

Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Keep a small spiral notebook with a pen by each phone in the house. Never forget a message again! Also, keep one in your purse for all your random thoughts that are easily forgotten! Mark some pages in the notebook "Gratitude" and keep track of all that you are thankful. Read this section whenever you feel a little blue.
